The Sarasota County 4-H Foundation is holding their annual 4-H Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, NOVEMBER 13th in the Myakka State Park. Registration 8:30—9:30AM , the walk begins at 9:30AM.

This annual fundraiser provides an opportunity for foundation members, leaders, and families to show their support and commitment to 4-H youth in Sarasota County. The goal is for every 4-Her to collect a minimum of $20.00. But don’t stop there, great prizes will be awarded to the Top  4-H Juniors, Intermediates, and Senior money collectors!

Would you, your club, or company like to be a sponsor of the 2010 Walk-A-Thon and have your name on the official Walk-A-Thon T-shirt? Contact Christina Schook at 915-2366.

As our 4-H program grows so do our needs. Donations received from the Walk-A-Thon provide scholarships for youth attending Summer Camps, Congress, District and State Events, Washington Focus, Legislature, Horse Camp, Horticulture Activities, Livestock Judging, Marine Science, Workshops, Project Support, Club Support and much, much more.

  • To Do - Engineering is a design and problem-solving process using the knowledge of science and mathematics.

4-H Debuts in Times Square

night-4h3
Dozens of 4-H youth gathered in Times Square Friday to survey New Yorkers on their impressions of the organization, while a 4-H PSA aired on the CBS “Super Screen” on 42nd Street.
The 15-second clip runs twice an hour throughout the month of November, totaling approximately 45 airings daily.  With nearly 1.6 million people passing through Times Square each day, 4-H is poised to raise awareness of the organization among millions during the month.
Cornell University Extension, New York City 4-H and National 4-H Council invited local 4-H youth to Times Square Friday, Nov. 20, to conduct street interviews with the public, gauging reactions to the PSA and gathering 4-H brand perceptions.
4-H was offered the unique opportunity to air the PSA after great success in the promotion of National Youth Science Day and the “Biofuel Blast” National Science Experiment, held Oct. 7.  Such an event wouldn’t be possible without the collaborative effort and hard work of promoting 4-H at the local level nationwide.

The purpose of the 4-H horse program is to provide young people an opportunity to participate in a series of activities designed to improve citizenship, sportsmanship, horsemanship, character, competitive spirit, discipline, and responsibility while creating an atmosphere for learning and awareness of the life about us.
